Thorrent Windows First-Time Setup
==================================

Use this when running Thorrent on a new Windows computer.

Recommended first run:

   INSTALL_FIRST.bat

What it does:

1. Checks for Python 3.13.
2. If Python 3.13 is missing, offers to install it with winget when available.
3. Creates a local .venv folder inside the Thorrent directory.
4. Installs all pip packages from requirements.txt.
5. Installs Playwright Chromium for the Nyaa browser-assisted importer.
6. Verifies the main dependencies.

After setup finishes, start Thorrent with:

   Thorrent shortcut

Advanced/manual launcher:

   tools\windows\run_windows.bat

Notes:

- The .venv folder belongs only to Thorrent and does not modify your global Python packages.
- Internet access is required during first-time setup.
- If setup fails, run tools\windows\repair_dependencies.bat or run INSTALL_FIRST.bat again.
- If Python installs successfully but setup still cannot find it, close the Command Prompt window and run INSTALL_FIRST.bat again.

Console style note:

- The BAT files use tools\windows\_thorrent_console.bat for the retro Thorrent banner and status sections.
- This is only visual polish; setup behavior is still handled by tools\windows\setup_windows.bat.

Shortcut:
After setup, Thorrent creates Thorrent.lnk in the app folder and on your Desktop. If it is missing, run tools\windows\CREATE_SHORTCUT.bat.

Advanced helper scripts are stored in tools\windows to keep the project root clean.

Optional qBit Plugin Lab:
Put audited qBittorrent-style plugin .py files in data\plugins\qbit\engines. See docs\QBIT_PLUGIN_LAB.txt.
